Green Session “From Policy to Practice” is an initiative launched by Natureherit Design & Consult, to create multi-actor dialogues to improve overview and understanding of Policies and Practices on climate actions and green-circular economy for worldwide regions. Through a "Roadmap of Exchanges", the Green Sessions will stimulate and assist local green-circular economy actions in more places simultaneously, trigger new green jobs and inspire ideas for more green growth.
The first Green Session was a workshop on EU-China cooperation which took place on 31st May 2017 in the Info-Point Europe in Brussels. It was listed as a Partner Event of the EU Green Week 2017.
Held on the eve of the EU-China Summit in Brussels (1-2 June), the Green Session gathered esteemed speakers from UN Environment, European Commission, EU Investment Bank and European Parliament, Committee of Regions, College of Europe, Brussels Region, Sichuan University, Clean Air Asia and Natureherit. After a key note speech by UN Environment, they exchanged views on the state of play of EU and Chinese climate policy, implementation, green-climate finance, emission trading systems (ETS) and collective city networks including climate action initiatives, such as the Covenant of Mayors, Global Covenant of Mayors and others. Chinese city climate actions, examples of European regional climate-related policies and the Clean Air Asia initiative have also been discussed.

The talks covered also various subjects like the role of municipal policies, urban mobility, clean and renewable energy, urban and rural renovation projects with the emphasis on low-energy building refurbishment, improving and greening the urban environment, development of bicycle and car sharing projects, as well as creating awareness of green business models. Notably, the creation and promotion of green financial instruments (e.g. Climate Awareness Funds) and city exchange programs (e.g. IUC and Horizon 2020) could boost green investments, create green jobs and the green-circular economy process in EU-China and across the “Belt and Road”.
Mr. Ulf Björnholm, Head of UN Environment Brussels Office, key note speaker at Green Session.
MEP Mr. Jo Leinen, key note speaker at Green Session.
The main speaking points were published online in a Green Session Report, together with a bilingual summary in English and Chinese. The audio and video recordings of the talks and discussions are also gradually being published online.
Among others, in support of the Climate and Energy Action Plan for Growth, created by the recent G20 Leaders’ Meeting in Hamburg, future Green Sessions will continue to hold dialogues and communication with representatives of a broad range of institutions, organisations, local and regional public authorities. This will stimulate the implementation of climate actions, green circular economy and innovation in knowledge sharing across all levels and regions worldwide.
